You want to have a new phone and it's got to be that Blackberry 8300 you saw Julia Roberts using it on one of her TV appearances. Since you do not have enough money to buy one, you scan e-bay for a bargain. Voila! You found one. You wait a week for it to finally arrive at your doorstep. Excitedly, you open the package and inserted the SIM card you bought especially for your new Blackberry. Simple process right? After booting the phone, you see an error message appear. Unfortunately, the phone is not compatible with your SIM card and you need to unlock the phone before you can use it. The trouble is you have no idea how to unlock your new cell phone.
Network providers will program your mobile phones so that only a SIM card that you bought from them would work on your cell phone. If you bought a phone from e-bay, there is a chance that the phone is locked to a specific network provider that is not available in your country or where you live. This is why you need to unlock mobile phone before you can use a SIM card from a different network provider in your country. Once your phone is unlocked, you can use any SIM card bought from any country which is compatible with your cell.
