Choosing The Right Network For Your Mobile Phone by Mark Hirst

There are a number of considerations to take into account when you plan which mobile phone network to sign up to, and all of the big 5 have plenty to recommend them. Coverage across the UK is generally pretty good for all the networks now, with only very rural areas lacking a decent signal. In addition to this, the prices are all relatively similar with competitive price plans and bolt on packages available from all the different networks.

For some people, the choice of which network to sign up with is a simple one, and they simply choose the supplier that has the best free offer when it comes time to get a new phone at the end of their last contract. They do this by searching on the internet or in news papers, and simply picking the phone that they want with whatever free gift is being offered.

Over the past few years, T-Mobile have become more popular than ever thanks to the range of offers for things that suppliers have given away to new account holders such as games consoles and even free flights to New York, however, there is more to getting the best deal for you than simply a gimmick.

One of the most important things to remember when you are getting a new phone is to check out which network all your friends and family are on. Typically mobile phone companies charge a lot more to call people on another network, so being on the same one as everyone that you know is a good idea and can save you a great deal of money in the long run.

Another thing to consider is what the after sales service is like. There is no point signing up for a year long contract and then finding that all you have to look forward to is problems with your bills and having to speak to unhelpful call centre staff as you try and sort things out.

Speak to other people, and see who they are willing to recommend, and read reviews on consumer websites to find the best supplier for you - they might not necessarily be the cheapest, but paying a little more in the short term is well worth it for your peace of mind. Because the prices are so similar between the different networks, you should make your decision based on quality rather than anything else, as otherwise you will regret it.
