Senior Cell Phone? A Review of The JitterBug Cell Phone by Keith Thompson

If you're looking to buy a senior cell phone you shoulddefinitely give the JitterBug Cell phone a try. If you havea senior who has sworn off cell phones because of theincreasing complexity and confusing array of options, thewhen you buy the JitterBug phone they're in for a bigsurprise. Let's run down the benefits of the JitterBug cellphone.

The JitterBug is designed with big, bright buttons, backlitfor optimal viewing by anyone short of legally blind. Myvision isn't the greatest, and I have no trouble whatsoeverviewing the screen in any circumstances, (unless I forgotwhere I put it!) The text that appears onscreen is just aslarge, as is the JitterBug itself, making it easier to useand tougher to lose! The earpiece has a big rubber cushion toaccommodate hearing aids. The sound on a JitterBug cell phoneis crystal clear, and can be cranked up quite loud. Thesephones are made by Samsung, so there is no lack in cellulartechnology.

One of the coolest things about the JitterBug cell phone isthat it comes ready to use. You can even have JitterBug pre-programmed with up to 15 numbers of your choice. It evencomes equipped with something that's nearly a things of thepast: a dial tone! There is a JitterBug operator standing byat all times, and you can even have them place calls for youif you like. (Don't do that often, however, as you use upfive minutes of your prepaid time each time!)

Probably the only option that could conceivably scare offanyone is the voice-mail option. Sometimes the thought ofconfusing voice mail menus scare off even the younger set,but JitterBug makes it a breeze. Every option on the voicemail is a yes or no question, and even the mosttechnologically challenged among us can answer a fewyes/no questions!

Battery life is good, a healthy 3+ hours of continuous talktime. But what senior cell phone is going to be in use thatlong?? Not many, I'd bet. The phone does let you know whenthe battery is getting low with a beep and a text message.

These JitterBug cell phones come with prepaid cell plansthough the Sprint Wireless Network, and many improvementsare scheduled down the road. All in all, if you were to buythe JitterBug cell phone as an answer for you senior cellphone issues, I think you'd be most pleased.
